STYG volunteers 21,600 minutes per year just in Youth Club evenings

NEWS
The following news is in chronological order from newest to oldest and dates back to 21st December 2003 when the news section was opened.

Tuesday 28th June 2005

It has been calculated that throughout the year 2005, St. Teresa's Youth Group volunteers will have donated 21,600 minutes just in Youth Club evenings without even taking into account time used for organising events, monitary calculations, administration, gathering of supplies, attendance administration, charity work, and 'out of hours' trips just to name a few of the 'behind the scenes' activities required to make the Youth Club successful. The time has been pledged to the 'Year of the Volunteer' website and is helping the website gain 1,000,000,000 minutes of volunteered time.
If you partake in any non-styg charity work, please pleadge your minutes to help this endorced campaign be a sucess.

St. Teresa's Youth Group now has an online shop. It sells household items branded with the STYG logo.

All profit generated from this venture will go directly back into the Youth Club. It is not mandatory for you to purchase anything from the shop nor is it mandatory for you to bring/wear the item.

The shop is accessible by choosing shop from the menu down the left of the screen.

The guestbook has been removed from www.styg.co.uk due to a breach of security by mindless hackers. According to a website in which they have used STYG as a trophy for their infamous skills, the breach was conducted using a flaw in the script used to code the guestbook and so a decision has been made for it's romoval.

We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the guestbook and hope that should the fault be rectified, you would be willing to leave your mark again.

It is a shame that the mindless activities of a few induviduals has ruined a fundamental part of a non-profit organisation's website.

Damage Extent:
All of the pages on the website were defaced using the code flaw of which an example of the damage has been stored HERE

Today was the annual Christmas party. It was a great success with a DJ, and pizza. I personally thought that the DJ was brilliant and really 'made' the evening. Many thanks to Papa Pizza (near the leisure centre) for supplying us with such a great deal on the pizzas. Hope you all enjoyed your selection boxes.

See you in 2005
Ben.

Wednesday 3rd November 2004

The Rotary Swimathon 2004 will take place on Saturday 13th November 2004 at Wilmslow Leisure Centre and commences at 6pm.

Several Children have put themselves forward to swim, however we need a completed Parent Consent Form. Please return the slip before 5th November.

Teams will be picked on a first come, first served basis. The quicker you return the form, the more chance you have of being picked. We need two teams of six to participate.

Children taking part or just supporting the event can be dropped off to the Leisure Centre around 5.40pm. We will then take them back to St. Teresa's Church Hall for pizza. They can be collected at 8.30pm.

Half of the money raised goes back to charities related to the Rotary Club and the rest of the funds will be given back to STYG.

This year, we would like every child to raise as much money as possible. Each member of STYG will be given a sponsor form not just the swimmers involved.

Your support is greatly appreciated.

Caroline, Cathy, Fiona.

We have launched our new site. We hope you like the new layout. The site has been redesigned to give the site more consistensy and to make it more fluent. We hope that the new layout is not confusing and you can still find any information you require as quickly and easily as you could with the old template. The site has been redesigned by the current webmaster and the main changes are af follows:
~ A new contact system whereby a 'flash' form is used to send information and queries to one address.
~ A new more organised calendar whereby a youth club evening can be clicked on and a popup window displays the parent helpers of that evening.
If you have any comments about the new template, please use the 'Contact Us' link down the left hand side of the page.

A new scheme will be put into place on Sunday 29th February to combat membership. Alot of people have not paid the small fee of £5.00 to become a member of STYG. Please bring the money or a cheque made payable to St. Teresa's Youth Group with you to the next meeting. Members will receive exclusive membership cards which will allow them entry for just 50p.
